Meet Mustard.
A color pulled from the hills. A campaign built around the slow, golden hours of an Ojai afternoon.
The Ojai Valley. Where the palette lives.
The Brief
A new color, named for the land.
REVIVAL wanted to introduce Mustard. Not as a statement, but as a foundation. The kind of color that grounds a space and makes everything else feel intentional.
But a single colorway doesn't launch alone. It needs a palette to support its story. We built a moodboard inspired by Ojai and the glazes in our collection.
The Palette
Four colors, one valley.
We anchored everything to the land. Each shade got its own line on the call sheet. Each one got its own moment in the day.

Olive
The Grove
This deep, earthy green is inspired by the abundant olive trees that dot the Ojai Valley. |
Oatmeal
Dry Creek Bed
This warm, neutral tone reflects the sandy hues of Ojai's desert landscape. |
On Set
Two locations. One valley.
Our primary two sets were just 15 minutes away from each other. A modern home with clean lines and California light. An orange grove at the edge of the valley. The juxtaposition mattered. We wanted to show how Mustard works in both contexts. Contemporary and pastoral. Edited and effortless.
Modern ranch. Natural materials. Mustard as the anchor.
Afternoon light streaming through. The kind of moment you want to live in.
"Editorial doesn't mean precious. It means curated. It's showing, not telling.'"— Catherine Wright, Creative Direction
The Approach
Room for the day to happen.
The shot list was less dialed in than usual. I wanted room for the day to happen. For the light to shift. For the details to feel discovered, not staged.
We let the oranges fall where they fell. We didn't sweep away the grass or leaves. My style is as if someone just left. The moment is living. The human touch is palpable.
The details that bring a moment to life. Pruning shears. Rosemary. Oranges. A forgotten sunhat.
Mustard in its element.
A table in the grove. Oranges underfoot. The simplest kind of luxury.
The Result
A campaign that reads like a moment you're living.
The campaign inspired a new series, The Color Diaries, which explores the inspiration and real-life application of each of the brand's selectively developed glazes. The result is a launch that reads like a moment you want to esacpe into. Open it and you're there. In the grove. At the table. With the light coming through at the exact right angle.
That's the whole point of a launch like this. Not to invent a desire. To name one that was already there.
